Potato cutlets 

This is a savoury ball made of potato on its own and coated with breadcrumbs and deep fried in oil.


Potatoes 200 Gms
Onion 1 medium
Green chillies 4
Fennel seeds ½ teaspoon
Turmeric powder ½ teaspoon
Plain flour 50 Gms
Bread crumbs as necessary
Oil for frying


Skin wash and cut potatoes into pieces. Boil them in water until well cooked. Drain and mash coarsely.

In a hot pan, add little oil and fry fennel seeds, diced onion, chopped green chillies until onion turn golden.

Add the mashed potatoes, turmeric powder, salt and mix well into a ball.

Remove from fire and let it cool.

Mix plain flour and salt with water to form a batter.

Make lime sized balls from the potato mixture, dip this in the batter and coat well with bread crumbs.

Deep fry until bread crumbs turn golden.

Remove and drain and it is ready to eat.
